Electric on the Dancefloor

We received a call from a bride who wanted our help to find her dream dress. She had a very specific brief. Our most challenging yet.

“…something that is demure and beautiful for the service but outstanding and electric on the dancefloor…”

One evening the following week, we met for a coffee at Little House and very quickly got a real sense of her personality and also the task ahead. Having grown up in Paris, with parents working in the fashion world, she wanted something truly unique and totally exceptional. She also needed her dress within six weeks.

Her love for beads, crystals, backless and the 2015 Inbal Dror Venice Collection gave us a clear vision to prepare some quick inpiration boards.

24 hours later - a Dress Day was born

3 VIP appointments booked. 1 chauffeur driven car. A Smythson gift bag. Our bride and her sister.

So decisively she navigated her way through the bridal boutiques, pulling out a wide array of designer dresses to try on.

Dress after dress. Lace, silk, tulle. Dress after dress. Sequins, crystals, beads. Dress after dress. Backless. Voluminous. Sexy. Chic.

By tea time, she had shortlisted two dresses. Both editorial in look. Both outstandingly beautiful. Both samples unavailable until later this summer.

Its times like these that you spring into action. You think calmly. You off-load the pressures of the bride. As a planner, you have to find quick solutions, so we made calls to the designer in the UAE and sent emails to New York.

Awaiting and hoping for a response, we indulged our bride and her sister in a champagne afternoon tea at a nearby Mayfair hotel. No update came.

The following morning and in the essence of time, we met with an amazing couturier in North London. She shared samples of fabrics and jewels, she sketched whilst we chatted with an infectious passion. Her drawing design, although raw and rough, was simply mind-blowing. Capturing everything about the sample dresses our bride so adored but making them totally bespoke.

Our bride fell in love and instructed her on the spot.
